The interior design of this holiday house located at Redgate Beach, just south of Margaret River in Western Australia's south west, represents an exploration of the design opportunities within the simple finishes and fitout , and the restricted budget associated with a low-maintenance holiday house. The honed concrete floors and glass-faced render feature walls characterize the somewhat industrial aesthetic of the interior, a theme which is continued throughout the main spaces with the exposed steel framing and minimal joinery. Custom cabinetry has been designed for the kitchen, living and dining areas, featuring a warm white quartz resin surface that wraps ribbon-like across cabinetry clad with timber veneer and lacquer. This simple theme is continued elsewhere in the house, particularly with the inbuilt cabinetry to the Study and Main Suite. The compact but highly functional bathrooms feature concrete floors, limestone tiles to the walls and frameless glass screens as required.
